Ever wondered what its like to live in Victoriana Care Home? Well, here is a sneak peak of how our usual week looks like. Thanks to our experienced new Activities Coordinator Janine residents are kept well entertained.
Janine has recently joined the team, hence the ideas and creativity of how residents should be entertained brought a new meaning to their wellbeing. ‘I absolutely love crafting, music and exercise and I genuinely believe that by encouraging residents to find something they are looking forward to during the day will help to improve their emotional and physical wellbeing’ said Janine.
This week residents made birthday cards for a resident who will be celebrating his birthday very soon. Handmade cards are so much more precious and personalised, so residents have asked if they could make it a regular activity, so they are prepared for anyone’s birthday in the future. Ladies had their pampering sessions, and they were so happy with their hand massages and fresh new manicures done by Janine.
Board games such as Snakes and Ladder as well as Scrabble kept some entertained for hours. Keeping minds active is very important at the older age. Victoriana Care Home resident Mark said ‘I am not really into singing and dancing, however I do love a quiet cards game. I used to play a lot when I was younger. Really happy that staff can keep me a company and play cards with me’.
New games table was a hit with residents and the team members. Everyone took their turns to have a go and what was lovely to see that one resident offered his help to put the table together.
The Victoriana residents have also been enjoying a fair share of exercise this week and what is a better way to do it other than put the volume up and have an improvised dance party. There was not a single person who was not moving to well-known tunes.
The was laughter and lots of happy memories made this week and we cannot wait to see what the next week will bring to The Victoriana Care Home.
