December has been a fun and busy month here at Georgiana Care Home. The residents got involved in the “Hearts for Homes – “Hearts for Schools” project which has been a lovely partnership between various local Primary and Secondary Schools such as Beechwood Primary School, Lealand Primary School, The Meads Primary School and Layland High School. It has created a real bond and community spirit. The residents have appreciated the efforts students have put into their artwork, Christmas Cards and Christmas well wishes.
In return a group of Georgiana Care Home residents enjoyed creating a Christmas chain with beautifully decorated hearts. Activities Coordinator Susi had this to say ‘It was so lovely seeing a group of ladies enjoying creating a Christmas Chain with beautifully decorated hearts. My favourite heart said “My pacemaker sends you Christmas cheer and love from Georgiana’’ It was such a lovely gesture!’
Christmas Heart Chain Getting ready for the festivities
With Christmas carols blaring from all directions, the tunes got team members and residents in the mood to decorate the care home and put up a Christmas tree and obviously Christmas jumpers have made the mood in the home cheerful.
This year’s Christmas party was one with a difference as the Georgiana Team got into the spirit of Christmas and bought in dishes of homemade food and the kitchen cooked up a storm. With a rendition of “A Night before Christmas”, the residents got fully involved in the spirit of Christmas and was serenaded by musician Chris Beahan, who had to endure the cold temperature outside in our garden. Whilst the residents where tucked up in the warmth listening to his piano playing.
Feeling Festive Musician Chris Beahan
On Christmas Day the residents where given wonderful Christmas goodie bags filled with chocolate, candy cane, a word search book, scotch finger biscuits and various toiletries.
It had not been an easy year, however the team did their best to make sure residents enjoy the festive season filled with laughter, love and happy memories.
