We have recently introduced regular music sessions for Edwardian Care Home residents thanks to a fantastic local group called Music24. They provide music sessions for people with learning disabilities and dementia.
All sessions are completely led by the people who attend the session and it’s a mixture of trying out various musical instruments (and the variety of them is amazing!), singing and dancing. If you are new to the group and feeling a bit shy, don’t worry, you can get involved as much as you wish.
Edwardian Care Home residents have joined few sessions already and residents are really looking forward to making it a regular activity.
These are available groups in Luton for you to join:
• Mental Health group – Monday evenings from 6pm -8pm
@ The Bear Club, Mill Yard 24A Guildford Street Luton LU1 2NR
• Dementia group – Friday mornings from 10am -11.30am
@ Hope Church, Villa Road Luton LU2 7 NT
All they ask is for a £3 minimum donation from each attendee per session. However, no one is turned away due to lack of finance. If this is an issue please contact them so they can sort something out.
Please contact one of the organisers Graeme Davis via email graeme@music24.org.uk or visit their website www.music24.org.uk
