Ken who came in for a short respite to Victoriana Care Home was feeling a bit overwhelmed with the thought he will need to adjust in a new environment. Care Home team made sure he was feeling like at home. After having a chat with his family, soon care home team found out that Ken used to sing at the Luton Male Voice Choir.
This is when team thought why not bring Ken to one of their rehearsals and see if he would like to join them. Choir leader and his best friend Bill was feeling excited to find out that Ken will be joining the upcoming group rehearsal and made sure all necessary arrangements have been made to make Ken feel at ease.
When Ken came into the rehearsal session, he had a fantastic time chatting with his old friends! Session was great and Ken was able to remember most of the songs and he happily was singing them along.
Home Manager Inesa Jones had this to say;
‘It was great to see my team going above and beyond and making sure Ken is well looked after. This just shows you can continue living your life whilst living in the care home. Ken and his family were grateful for this arrangement and we hope Ken will like to continue going to these rehearsals, as music is so beneficial to our mental health’
We would like to thank Luton Male Voice Choir for taking care of Ken and we hope they will be able to visit Victoriana Care Home and do a little performance for the rest of the residents. For more information about the choir, please visit their website www.lutonmvc.com
